About Elizabeth Stockton:

Elizabeth Stockton was born in Oxford, North Carolina and raised in Atlanta. Influenced at an early age by her father, Jack Niles, a nationally acclaimed artist and designer. Elizabeth passionately pursued a fine arts degree at the University of Georgia, studying painting, drawing and design.

After a successful 20-year career as an accomplished art director and designer, Elizabeth launched herself as a fine artist with a self-funded and curated solo exhibition at the Floataway complex, a creative collection of intown Atlanta workspaces. After three days and a few hundred guests, all of her 18 original paintings were sold. She then secured a “Featured Artist” status in the Twinhouse Gallery on the corner of Peachtree and Rumson Roads. It was there her paintings were displayed and shown for the next eight years, often featured in the gallery window and as an event headliner.

Since 1999, Elizabeth has produced work for over 20 solo and group exhibitions in Atlanta, Nashville, New Orleans, Maine and New York. Her art is collected and prominently displayed in fine homes, private collections, corporate boardrooms, and in hotels and restaurants from Atlanta to India.

Her work has been shown in many publications including Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Maine Home + Design, and Veranda magazines. Elizabeth holds special regard for the art patrons in her hometown of Atlanta.

Elizabeth was awarded five residencies with the Art Students League® of New York, where she spent a month each time with eight US and international artists at the League's Vytlacil campus just north of New York City.

The League encourages growth and expression through freedom and collaboration. Some prominent artists such as Alexander Calder, Georgia O’Keeffe, Robert Rauschenberg, Mark Rothko, and Cy Twombly, just to name a few, all benefited from involvement with the Art Students League of New York. She also been a resident at the Hambidge Center, The Serenbe Institute and Arts Letters & Numbers.

Currently, Elizabeth paints in the studio she built behind her home in Brookhaven, and continues to pursue juried shows, residencies, and the study of other artists. She is a volunteer at MoCA GA.
